How Often Should I Get Adjusted?

Get Started Here

Chiropractic adjustments could be a great way to help you manage pain and provide you with treatment for a number of different conditions. The frequency at which you get chiropractic adjustments depends on a number of factors. Depending on what you are getting adjustments for, and the severity of your condition, the amount of adjustments you should receive and how often will differ.

At Moramarco Chiropractic Office in Woburn, we offer a variety of chiropractic services for a variety of conditions and injuries. Our doctor, Dr. Moramarco, can help you determine a chiropractic treatment plan, including the frequency, that will work best for you and help you feel better. As mentioned, there are many factors that play a role in how often you should get adjustments. In this blog, we are going to talk about chiropractic adjustments and the frequency at which you should get them. If You Are Just Starting Out

How often you need chiropractic adjustment will be determined by a number of different things, but in most cases, patients will need adjustments more frequently in the beginning of their treatment plan. Different injuries and types of pain will require a different number of adjustments, but once you get started, you will be able to get adjusted less often. If you have an injury and begin chiropractic adjustment because of that injury, you will need more sessions in the first few weeks. After a couple of weeks, your adjustment schedule can be reduced greatly and used more as ongoing maintenance to help ensure pain does not come back.

For neck and back injuries, it is common to get adjusted three to four times a week in the first two week. From weeks three through 10, adjustments will be dropped to about two to three times per week. After that, ongoing adjustments, once every two weeks can be used as maintenance.

More Than One Session Is Often Necessary

While you may hope that one adjustment is enough to solve your pain or condition, this is often not the case. Chiropractic care works best when treatment is ongoing. While you may notice improvements after your first session, this is not always the case and many patients require multiple sessions to notice improvements. If you want maximum results, you will likely have to commit to multiple sessions.

If you know that you are not able to make multiple sessions, be sure to discuss this with our chiropractor. We will be able to provide you with advice on how you can minimize pain at home and do your best to avoid the pain from coming back. This could include investing in better ergonomic furniture, doing stretches daily, or other methods depending on your pain and injury. However, if you want to feel your best and get the maximum results, multiple sessions are suggested.

Your Goals For Chiropractic Care

Depending on what your goals are for chiropractic care, the frequency at which you get adjustments will differ. If you are suffering from an injury, whether it is from a car accident or a sports injury, your chiropractic treatment plan will look different from if you just want to maintain optimal health. Chiropractic adjustments are not just for injury or spinal conditions, they can be a great way to maintain optimal health and mobility for many people, especially if you sit at a desk all day.

If your goal is to simply maintain optimal health, you will not have to get adjusted nearly as often as those who injured their back or neck. Similar to going to a dentist to maintain oral health, going to a chiropractor can help keep your body feeling its best. On the other hand, if you have a condition such as scoliosis, regular adjustments may be necessary to ensure that your condition does not worsen.

How Often Should You Get Adjusted?

So, how often should you get adjusted then? Well, there is no single answer. It depends on why you are getting adjusted, how long you have been getting adjusted for, if you are trying to treat an injury or condition, and so many other factors. There is no easy answer.
